The Blackhawks surprised many before the Olympic break by making a trade. They made an equally surprising move coming out of the Olympics.
The Hawks released defenseman Michael Kostka. If he had cleared waivers he would have been assigned to Rockford. However Tampa Bay claimed him so now he is gone.
Kostka signed a one-year deal with the team in July and it was decided coming out of camp he would be the 8th defenseman on the team. That meant they made to pass Ryan Stanton through waivers. Needless to say Stanton was claimed by Vancouver.
