The NFL Channel has a variety of shows listing the top ten players in several categories. One of the most talked about categories would be the top five linebackers of all-time. Here's the top five based on what I believe is the value they held for their team's overall play.
Jack Lambert, Pittsburgh Steelers: Undersized by today’s standards at 6-4 and 220 pounds, he anchored the ‘Steel Curtain’ defense which dominated professional football in the 70’s. His 11 year career produced 9 Pro Bowl appearances and helped produce 4 Super Bowl victories in 7 years. His career produced 1,479 tackles, (1,045 which were solo), 23.5 sacks and 28 interceptions. When Lambert retired his number ‘58’ was also retired. No linebacker in history helped his team accomplish what the Steelers were able to achieve.
