After a very important win against the rival Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball, the New York Yankees did suffer a casualty in that game with starter David Phelps being forced to leave early with an elbow problem.
On Monday, Phelps was put on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his right elbow. Phelps is the fifth Yankees starter to hit the DL this season, as he was one of the first replacements when the injury bug hit the Yankees rotation this season. It is expected for Phelps to miss at least 3-4 weeks, so a possible September return seems like a good target date if all goes well for him.
