With one swing of the bat, the frustration and displeasure of a few thousand Yankees fans came pouring out Tuesday night.
Moments after the Houston Astros’ Chris Carter hit his 30th home run of the season, a towering three-run shot that gave Houston a 7-4 lead over New York in the ninth inning, David Robertson exited to a chorus of boos from his home crowd in the Bronx. The Yankees had three outs to work with, but the game was already over. Everyone knew it was over.
And so, after the media played up the importance of winning five or six games on a six game homestand against the Astros and Chicago White Sox, the fans were reasonably distraught having dropped the first game. They took their anger out on Robertson, a guy who has been terrific all season long.
