Lots of New York Yankee fans are inexplicably upset at the prospect of General Manager Brian Cashman receiving a new contract despite the possibility that they will most likely miss the playoffs for the second year in a row. Those fans are the reason why the Yankees, and their fans, are universally hated.
I’m a proud member of late-90’s era Yankee fans, and I will come out and admit it: We’re spoiled. In two decades of baseball-watching, I’ve witnessed no less than five world championships and no more than two seasons of missed playoffs. And that’s all Yankee fans in their twenties and early thirties know.
