Jonathan Lucroy finds a home at second base

While the Milwaukee Brewers 2014 season is basically over after being eliminated from the N.L. playoffs, one of its players is trying to hold on to the major league lead for doubles.

Catcher Jonathan Lucroy has 52 doubles this season and is a shoo-in to win the N.L. doubles crown (his nearest competitor is Freddie Freeman with 42). Winning the majors doubles title may be more of a challenge. Lucroy has a one double lead over Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera with three games to play.

If Lucroy ends up with the most doubles in the majors this year he will become the first Brewers player to win the MLB doubles crown since Lyle Overbay did it in 2004 with 54 two-baggers. The Brewers have had a player lead the league (or tie for the league lead) in doubles eight times since 1969.

Here’s a look at the Brewers players who have led (or tied) the league in doubles, triples and home runs since 1969. (A * indicates they led the American League)
