The 2014 Heisman Trophy will be awarded on December 13, with many of the candidates still vying for the top spot in what will be the 80th annual awarding of college football’s most heralded honor. With Marcus Mariota of the Oregon Ducks idle, many other names either were able to rise up and catapult themselves higher into the conversation, while some suffered a bit of a fall. Wisconsin Badgers RB Melvin Gordon may have very well turned in the most impressive performance by a back in a single game in NCAA history, rushing for 408 yards in a blowout win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Gordon broke the record that was previously held by Ladainian Tomlinson, and he did it in three quarters against a team that ranked in the top 20 in overall rush defense entering Week 12.
