Though Unable To Bring a World Series To Chicago, Ernie Banks Meant As Much To Cubs As Any Player In MLB History

Ernie Banks was a Hall of Fame shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. He played for the team for 19 seasons, and will go down as one of the all-time greats. He is Mr. Cub. Heck, for quite some time, even though many White Sox fans may disagree, he was Mr. Chicago. On Friday, Banks passed away at the age of 83. Not only will he be remembered for his talent, but No. 14 will always be thought of as one of the most genuine people to ever play the game he loved. And, although he was unable to deliver a World Series championship to Chicago, one could argue that no player meant more to one team than Banks did to the Cubs.
