If there was any doubt as to which player was the best in all of Major League Baseball heading into the 86th MLB All-Star Game, Mike Trout put an end to any debate by dominating the Summer Classic once again. Not only did Trout homer off of the dominant Zack Greinke to lead off the game but, the Los Angeles Angels standout went on to win his second consecutive ASG MVP award while helping the American League earn home field advantage in this year's World Series. With a 6-3 victory over the National League in Tuesday night's All-Star game in Cincinnati, the American League team that advances to the Fall Classic in October will begin the series at home and, if necessary, get to host Game 7 in their home ballpark.

The last player to lead off the All-Star Game with a home run was Joe Morgan of the Cincinnati Reds way back in 1977. For those who are confused, citing that Bo Jackson did it back in 1989, the former two-sports star athlete did it in the bottom of the first. Trout, Morgan, Willie Mays, Lou Boudreau and Frankie Frisch all did it in the top of the first as the game's overall lead-off batter.

Still, the comparison of Trout to Jackson seems fitting, as Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones called Trout the "white Bo Jackson." His words, not mine. Still, it should strictly be viewed as the ultimate compliment.
