After a slightly lighter slate of Major League Baseball games yesterday, Tuesday, July 21 marks a return to a full 15-game schedule, highlighted by the debut of Philadelphia Phillies top pitching prospect, Aaron Nola. While drafting such a young pitcher is always risky, even one so highly touted, the fact that Nola carries a meager salary of just $3,000 makes him a decent value pick in MLB DFS play.
In fact, what would you say if I told you that I would recommend drafting two starting pitchers who cost less money combined than the most expensive hurler on the board tonight? It may sound crazy but, I think it could work. If nothing else, it would allow you to save some cap space and load up on some elite hitters.
It isn't that I don't like the highest-priced SP on tap for the evening in New York Mets phenom, Jacob de Grom but, I just feel as if you're daily MLB salary could be spent more wisely. In fact, de Grom would probably only rank as my No. 5 or No. 6 starter tonight, as I like quite a few others more than him, given their salary and/or opponent.
Heists And Homers is here to provide you with the best advice in helping you with your MLB DFS lineups for 7/21. Make sure to take a look at a few of my sleeper picks and decide whether you want to spend big on starting pitching and skimp on offense, or let it ride with a pair of affordable arms while loading up at the plate.
