The Fun’s Just Getting Started for Week 3 in the NFL

Hyped by on September 18, 2017

What a week in the NFL. Just like opening week, Week 2 left many of us scratching our heads wondering just how this season is going to unfold. All of which makes you wonder what’s going to happen this coming weekend and what the online odds for Week 3 games will look like.

After a stunning Week 1 loss, the Patriots bounced right back on the road to beat the Saints 36-20 as Tom Brady turned in one of the best passing performances by a 40-year-old in NFL history.

Brady and the Patriots roared back from the opening night letdown by completing 30 of 39 passes for 447 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Rob Gronkowski was also back to his old self, catching 6 balls for 116 yards and a touchdown.

The next two weeks, New England (1-1) returns home to Gillette Stadium to host Houston and Carolina, so look for the Patriots to continue fixing the flaws Kansas City discovered in Week 1.

Kansas City continues to roll, opening 2-0 with not only the season-opening win at New England but a 27-20 win over head coach Andy Reid’s old team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 2.

Eagles QB Carson Wentz was just 25 of 46 in the loss, but had 333 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Smith, meanwhile, continues to shine. He was 21 of 28 for 251 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers in Week 3 before hosting Washington in Week 4.

They’ll then travel to Houston and host Pittsburgh before heading to Oakland to face the upstart Raiders in what is sure to be one of the more interesting matchups over the first couple months of the season.

The Raiders improved to 2-0, throttling the Jets 45-20. Derek Carr has five touchdowns and no interceptions through the first two games of his fourth season.

Oakland travels to Washington and Denver over the next two weeks.

After opening the season with a decent home win over Seattle, Green Bay struggled to slow down an Atlanta Falcons offense that cruised to a 34-23 victory. The Falcons won despite allowing 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter (sound familiar Patriots fans?)

Atlanta travels to Detroit on Sunday. The Lions are playing on Monday night, so look for their defense to be on its heels against Matt Ryan and company given they’ll be coming off a short week.

The Falcons have an early bye coming in week 5, and play Buffalo in Week 4, so they should be plenty ready for their games against Miami and New England come weeks 6 and 7.

Should be interesting to see how that rematch of the Super Bowl shapes up on Oct. 22 between the Falcons and Patriots.

Other Week 3 games to keep an eye on this weekend, include:

The Cowboys are looking back at bouncing back from their week 2 loss when they take on the Cardinals in Arizona on Monday night.

The Eagles renew their rivalry with the Giants, who will also be coming off a short week and play on Monday night for Week 2.

The Browns will try to steal a win in Indianapolis, while the Bills host the Broncos in Buffalo, and the Seahawks travel to face the Titans.

The Thursday night game is a bit of a snoozer as San Francisco hosts the Los Angeles Rams at 8:25 EST. The 49ers are still looking for their first win, while the Rams are also looking to return to the win column after falling short against Washington 27-20 on Sunday. The Rams opened the season with a 46-9 victory over the Colts.
