I've been following professional ice hockey for twenty or so years. Originally from St. Louis, I was uprooted and moved to Atlanta in 1993, which at the time wasn't exactly a hotbed of hockey activity. The Thrashers came about in 1999, though, and I have been going to games since that first 4-1 loss to the Devils. Both of my teams take pride in being scrappy, chippy, blue collar, and a little bit of fun. Hopefully my blog grabs a bit of that.

How Scott Howson masterfully deflects attention to Rick Nash

Warren Peters Suspended One Game For Cross Check On David Backes; Shanny’s Explanation Is Weak

www.thrashingtheblues.com - I fully understand the fact that Warren Peters was frustrated towards the end of Saturday night's Minnesota Wild/St. Louis Blues game. The Wild were getting walloped 4-0, they only managed thirteen shots on net, and they just weren't playing very ...

The amazing power of forgiveness and hockey

bloguin.com - It's an impossible concept for most people to understand: how do you forgive someone for doing something unforgivable? Not what has become the traditional unforgivable, like maybe someone taking your promotion at work, undermining you in some way, or taking ...

Atlanta Spirit Pretends To Care About Your Thoughts In New Survey

www.thrashingtheblues.com - These "fan pulse studies" were sent out to Thrashers fans and season ticket holders, so it's no surprise that fans of the Atlanta Hawks got them. What is surprising, as pointed out by my good bud Everett Duke, is that ...

Targeting Barret Jackman: Anyone Else Notice An Uptick?

www.thrashingtheblues.com - I, obviously, watch a lot of Blues hockey - I think I've missed watching maybe one - possibly two - games this season, and schlepped all the way up to Nashville to catch a game. The more I watch, the ...

Blues’ Winning Ways And Confidence Have Me Optimistic. Uh oh.

thrashingtheblues.com - Those of you who know me personally, or who follow me on-line, or even those who read this blog and things I write elsewhere know that I'm not an optimistic person by nature. I adopt the very Denmark-ian ideals of ...

Lars Eller Got Me Wondering About Humility In Youth: Is It Passe?

thrashingtheblues.com - The Habs were already taking it to the Jets 6-2, and Eller already had three goals an an assist on the night. At that point, this game is the pinnacle of his career hands down. To get a penalty shot ...

“If You See Something, Say Something” At NHL Games?

thrashingtheblues.com - Ok, ok, I realize that public awareness of suspicious individuals is something that the government pretty much has to promote. Granted, most of these PSAs are about as ethnically diverse as an ADT Security ad, so maybe it is good ...
